Greetings in the Name of the Lord,

My name is Jody Jones, I am the new pastor at Robertson Avenue Baptist Church. I am excited about working with the church and with the Copperas Cove community to reach people for Christ. Jesus has made the biggest impact on my life by far. When I was 12 years old I asked Jesus to come into my heart and forgive me of all my sins. Through His forgiveness, I am a new person. The Bible says that if anyone is in Christ he is a new creation, the old is gone and the new has come. At the age of 18 I began pursuing my personal journey with God, having been only in a distant relationship with Him since asking Him to save me. I found that if you Seek Him you will find Him. Through seeking Him, with the help of my girlfriend(now wife) I learned that God had a lot more in store for me, that He wanted to use me. At the age of 19 I got married to Monica Mahanay. Besides Christ, Monica has made the biggest impact on my life. She has been by my side in support since the day we married. Together we have 3 children, Jared(17), Taylor(15), and Alexis(11). They are Awesome! I realized at the age of 21 that God wanted me to preach His word. After surrendering to the ministry God opened the door for me to be the chaplain for a camping club where we met with about 70 senior couples once a month and had a preaching service. God really secured in us during that time that He had called me to preach. After doing that for 18 months a pastor friend of mine asked me to come on staff with him at a little country church to help him. We were there for 18 months as well. From there God called me to my first pastorate at Calvary Chapel Baptist Church in Cleburne Texas. This was our home town and to have the honor of preaching at home was great for our family. Six and half years ago we moved to Freeport Texas where I pastored West End Baptist Church. It was a privilege to pastor this church. We now have a family in Freeport besides our immediate family. While in Freeport we were exposed to many ministry opportunities that have taught us to be who we are today. We take all of our experiences and bring them Robertson Avenue Baptist Church with hopes that God can use them to minister to not only Copperas Cove but to the entire community and to the world. Acts 1:8 “And you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth,” is a life verse for me and my ministry and I hope will always be the challenge that leads me to do what I do for the Lord.
